We love reviewing days out because it also gives us the opportunity to vlog it too. When we were invited to review both Sea Life Centre and Legoland Discovery Centre Manchester we jumped at the chance. We have previously reviewed Legoland which was the launch event and you can read that here.
Both Sea Life Centre and Legoland are located at Barton Square at Intu Trafford Centre and even though it can get a bit busy round there sometimes you know that there is always free parking. You can even buy a combined pass to visit both Sea Life Centre and Legoland Discovery which works out cheaper than buying passes individually.
Sea Life Centre
We have been to Sea Life Centre before when Leo was quite young and I was pregnant with Mylo.
Children are always fascinated at seeing animals that they don’t see every day. Both Leo and Mylo loved it and it gave us some really lovely memories!
The route around the Sea Life Centre was very easy and you just work your way around in your own time. It obviously isn’t as big as some other Sea Life Centre’s with it being at the Trafford Centre but you are still able to see a wide range of different sealife whilst you are there.
The boys were mesmerised by all of the different animals living underwater. Staff were dotted around the centre to give any information which I found super useful.
The touch pools are amazing although I wish that they had more in there. They have shrimp and starfish from what I can remember. The staff were very knowledgeable though and gave us a run through of each creature. They spoke in terms that my boys could understand too which I thought was great!
When we were there, we took part in the Jurassic Ranger event and got to stroke a snake, touch a starfish etc and earned a badge from doing so. I think events like this are great for the children and it gets them much more engaged with the visit as they have tasks to complete whilst they are there.
Overall we had a very positive experience from Sea Life Centre and will definitely go again.

Legoland Discovery Centre
Like I mentioned before, we have already reviewed the opening of Legoland Discovery Centre here, but it was great to go back and see if anything had changed.
I do really like Legoland but I think that they let in too many people at a time. It becomes quite hectic. Legoland would really benefit from having a timeslot system in place so that you can properly enjoy it whilst you are in there. And to also get round everything that you would like to.
That being said, what is in there is great but would also benefit from having some more activities for under 5 age range. I know lego isn’t designed for young children but having spaces where they can also play would be a great advantage.
There is a small section at the back of the building where there is a small slide and a place for little ones to build with oversized lego bricks. There is also the ball pit in the big play zone. This would be much better if it was monitored. Like I said, there isn’t much to do for the little ones as they can’t go on the rides etc. Bigger children come and take over and make the whole area hectic. Yes, this is partly the parents too that should be keeping their older children in check but I think it would be better monitored.
I feel a bit let down by Legoland overall, because in my last review I said about food allergies not being catered for within their cafe and I found the same again.
The 4D cinema that is in there is fab! There can be a bit of waiting depending on how many people are in there at that moment. However, there are a few hidden surprises in there. I will just say that if you want to stay dry then don’t sit on the front row like we did haha.
The staff I can’t fault, because they were lovely just like the last time. Polite and friendly is all you ask for isn’t it when you go on a day out with children.
