With myself now having three children with recently welcoming our brand new addition to our crazy family I thought it would be great to roundup on newborn essentials. When you’re a first time parent it seems like everything is an essential, but it most definitely isn’t. The amount of rubbish we ended up with after we had Leo and realised it was useless was unbelievable.
Newborn & post birth essentials! Over the last couple of months I’ve been sent some fab items by some fab brands to include in our roundup blog post. I’m hoping to get the full blog post up next week for you guys! We have a lovely changing mat by @venosure, isn’t the quote on it just ?! Dribble bibs by @liz_and_freds which are amazing quality and I can’t wait to get Nico into them when he grows a bit more ❤. Soft and thick muslin square by @my_fofolino, because you can’t have too many muslins and tbh this one puts my others to shame. I didn’t end up needing the spritz for bitz by @my_expertmidwife but the nipple balm is fab and I’ve had no cracked or bleeding nipples even though we are feeding through another tongue tie while we wait for the referral ??. The very useful travel first aid kit by @daisyfirstaidwigan which has now gone into our car just incase we need it ?. And last but not least @mamaandbelle teething necklace and bangle, I have always wanted these but something I never got round to purchasing and I can’t wait to see how they fair up against a teething baby! The necklace I’ve found I can use now though as a fiddle necklace whilst breastfeeding so it’s perfect ??
Daisy first aid kit
Every parent needs a first aid kit regardless of how old your children are. Children will always have accidents, that’s how they learn and how they manage risk taking, it’s all part of their development.
The Daisy first aid kit is absolutely fab. When I first received it I thought it looked a bit small and how can there possibly be enough in the little carry case that everything came in. Well, blow me down, this kit is jam packed full of EVERYTHING you will need from a first aid kit. The best bit? It is small enough to shove in your glove box in the car or in the basket under the pram.
Our first aid kit has proudly gone into our car for our outings because we never had a first aid kit for the car previously!
With working with children for the past 10+ years I’ve gone through my fair share of changing mats. These mats feel so bouncy and are are definitely not flat and rigid. Hasn’t it got a beautiful quote on it too. I love the design, you don’t have to settle for plain changing mats anymore!
This changing mat is by Venosure, which I have never heard of before but they have some fab bits over on their website.
My Expert Midwife Spritz for Bitz and No Harm Nipple Balm
Fortunately I haven’t needed to use the Spritz for Bitz because I had no tears or anything so I was pretty much straight back to normal quite quickly down there! However I have absolutely drained the No Harm Nipple Balm.
I usually use the market leader when it comes to nipple cream but decided to give this a whirl. It has been amazing, and I have had ZERO cracked/bleeding/irritated nipples due to breastfeeding. Anyone who’s breastfed before will tell you that the first two weeks are like hell; after that it’s plain sailing! My favourite thing about this product is that it is 100% natural, with only 3 ingredients!
I will definitely use the No Harm Nipple Balm again next time, mainly because it is a really nice texture and not thick like market leaders. It comes in an easy to use pump bottle and is small enough to be taken around in your handbag. You can order the No Harm Nipple Balm from My Expert Midwife’s website.
Mama & Belle teething jewellery
Mama & Belle launched in 2014 when they noticed that there were no stylish teething jewellery on the market. I can agree with this, I have always loved the concept of wearing something suitable for teething but never found anything as pretty as Mama & Belle’s range.
My boys have always tried to chew on my chains and bracelets. I have often worried about them snapping and the boys ending up with bits of gold in their mouth. I end up just not wearing any jewellery at all which looks so boring at times, especially when we go out for a nice meal or meet up with friends and family.
It was really hard to decide on what to get from Mama & Belle because they have so many lovely accessories! I can’t wait for Nico to get a bit bigger so I can flaunt these pieces of jewellery off!
Ordering is super simple from their website.
Any mum will tell you how muslins are life and death in the parent world. I’ve found that a lot of muslins go horrible and hard after they have been washed a couple of times but not these. I wanted to wait to publish this review so I could try out the items that it is possible to with a newborn baby.
Our Fofolino muslin has been in the wash more times than I can count on my hands already and it is still lovely and soft. I’m happy to wipe Nico’s face with this muslin because it is unbelievably soft and not at all hard and rigid like some of my other muslins.
You can order easily from Fofolinos website.
Liz and Fred’s dribble bibs
Just had to share these beautiful dribble bibs that I have received from @liz_and_freds. Aren’t they amazing ? they are so colourful and the quality on them is amazing. By far the best bibs we’ve had, can’t wait to get them on the little monkey ? these bibs will be coming up in our newborn essentials blog post next month so keep an eye out for them!
Aren’t these dribble bibs just adorable? I always prefer dribble bibs instead of ordinary bib styles. These dribble bibs are lovely and soft. They are fleecy underneath which is great because they are lovely and thick for these winter months.
Nico is still too small yet to fit into these bibs. As soon as he’s big enough we will be posting photos of him in them on our social media. Make sure that you are following us.
Liz and Fred’s do a fab job with their bibs and are great value for money. I will be going back there for some more once Nico grows a bit more and can fit into them properly!
There are so many designs to choose from. I know that Liz and Fred’s are always getting new design fabrics in too. It is worth following their social media channels for updates! Have a peek over on their Etsy store for their current range.
Would you add anymore newborn essentials to this list? What did you find that you couldn’t live without?
We were sent these items for the purpose of this blog post. However, all opinions and photos are that of my own.
