We got a huge box delivered last week and thought we could make something great with it. Leo and Mylo, mainly Mylo, have a bit of an obsession at the moment with lightening mcqueen; so why not make a lightening mcqueen racing car?!
What you need
Large cardboard box
Lots of red paint
White and yellow paint
What we started with
I started doing the cutting and this is what we ended up with after:
It didn’t have much shape to it so I cut the sides and back down. Mylo couldn’t get his leg over the box so that was another reason to trim it down some more.
Let the painting of the lightening mcqueen car begin
We started by painting the whole box red!
Then I did a bit of DIY on the sides to add the famous 95 for lightening mcqueen, his eyes and the wheels!
Our finished result
Our finished result turned out a lot better than I expected. This was only meant to be a quick craft activity but we ended up turning it into a two day thing! Then I thought well maybe I could make a blog post out of it, so here we are! The boys really enjoyed making the car (as did I) and we are now thinking about what we can make next!
They won’t let me get rid of the lightning mcqueen car so it’s been making tracks around the house. To be honest I don’t really want to throw it away myself!
If you try this at home make sure to tag us because we love seeing your creative activities!
What’s the best thing that you have made out of a cardboard box?
Do you have any ideas of what we could try next?
