The boys have had a bit of a fascination with aeroplanes lately so where better to take them than the local airport pub! You might be sat there thinking, a pub? Yes. We have a pub near our local airport which is Manchester and the runway passes right behind the pub. It’s a great place to go aeroplane watching!
This is where we went to watch the aeroplanes.
Photos from the day
The boys really loved our little afternoon out and were mesmerized by the aeroplanes passing over so close. Mylo took a little coaxing around the loud noises at first but he soon came round. He loved the aeroplane watching once he got accustomed to the sounds.
What we learnt from watching the planes:
- Understanding the world – We watched the planes coming in to land and spoke about which countries they could have flew from
- Mathematics – We spoke about how fast the aeroplanes were going and how long it would take them to get to different countries
- Language and communication – extension of our vocabulary talking about thrust, engines, wings, cockpit etc. Words that we wouldn’t normally use in everyday conversation.
Vlog
We decided to vlog the day so that you can see how close to the aeroplanes we actually were!

Oh wow, Hubs and I visited here when our eldest was tiny. We’ve been meaning to go back ever since, I loved it and I think the kids will too! Thanks so much for sharing with #Blogstravaganza xx

The planes are so close! There’s a farm in Birmingham which is under the flight path which is quite fun! Thanks for linking up #FabFridayPost
