I thought I would write up a blog post for mummy’s expecting a little girl; I don’t usually write gender related posts but I thought that because I already have 3 boisterous boys that it would be nice to do a blog post with some bits and bobs aimed at little girls like bows and hair accessories.
It can be an absolute minefield when shopping for your baby or even if you are buying a gift for a friend and don’t know where to start! This blog post features quite a few items that are baby must haves and would be perfect as gifts for mums expecting little girls; bows, baby hampers, subscription boxes and much more!
After having three boys and now expecting a little princess, I think I’ve been in desperate need for some lovely glitter bows for her. These bows are gorgeous and Ickle Bow Peep sent an additional white headband for which the extra bow clips can be attached without being on babies head.
Bows start from as little as just £2 on Ickle Bow Peep, from single bows on headbands, bobbles and clips to gift sets and packages, there’s something for everyone!
New baby hamper
The Baby Hamper Company were lovely enough to send us one of their baby hampers to feature. They have lots of different options on their website including personalised goods if you are looking for that extra special gift!
Here is what was in our hamper:
- Beautiful crocheted octopus rattle
- 0-3 month vest
- 0-3 month star sleepsuit
- Knotted hat
- Lovely large muslin swaddle
This hamper would make a lovely gift to a new or expectant mum. The hamper pictured is a large baby girls hamper and is priced at £40. The Baby Hamper Company haven’t just limited themselves to hampers though; they also sell individual baby gifts, keepsakes, clothing, gifts for mum, pregnancy and baby shower gifts etc, the list goes on!
Baby memory book
When we first become parents we imagine ourselves filling out our little baby memory books with little notes about their favourite things, habits, mischievous behaviour etc. This baby memory book by Ehayas Online goes one step further and allows space for 5 years of memories!
The 5 years allows for handprints, footprints, height, pictures, likes, dislikes, and many many more! This is an in-depth memory book that has all angles covered. Special occasions, milestones and achievements are all in the book ready to be filled in!
At the moment this baby memory book is on Amazon for £29.99 which I think is great value considering how much you can store in the book about your baby.
I don’t know why but I always seem to be in need of a nice wash bag; this one by House of Hopstock fits the bill perfectly.
This make up/wash bag floral design is digitally printed on the finest cotton fabric that are lined with a waterproof material. With the inside being lined and waterproof it gives this bag a whole load of uses including: make up, breast pads, wash bag, nappy bag, sanitary products etc.
The bag measures 28cm x 18cm x 4cm and can be machine washed. Retailing at £18 it’s a bag that’s made to last, no matter what you use it for.
Dribble bibs are something that you most definitely need with a baby; those first couple of months, and then there seems to be a bit of a break then you need them again come teething and weaning! The best bibs that we’ve found are bandana bibs; they look nice, they catch majority of the dribble and they are becoming increasingly popular so there are now a lot more designs to choose from.
Ziggle sent us a pack of their bandana dribble bibs on their boutique line designs by Katie Pythian. As soon as we received them I fell in love with them, the designs are beautiful and the bibs themselves are so soft with them being 100% cotton. The underneath layer is made from absorbent fleece which is so much comfier for baby than the horrible plastic nylon backing.
The pack that we were sent are retailing at only £12.99 for a pack of 4; I think this is incredibly good value for great quality comfy bibs for your baby, plus the designs are amazing and pretty with a touch of elegance about them.
Comfortable Baby sandals
How pretty are these little baby sandals though? Aside from being pretty they are also incredibly good for babies foot development. We’ve worked with Dotty Fish before and you can read the benefits of their shoes here.
These Sandals are currently on offer at Dotty Fish for £6.49 from £9. Even £9 I think is an amazing price for footwear for your child which will not harm the development of their little feet at this crucial stage of growth and are podiatry tested.
Everyone loves toys for their baby that have that extra special handmade touch to them. This teether from The Lydia Tree is crocheted in the shape of bunny ears and I am in love with it.
I can honestly say that I have never used a nappy wallet with any of my boys, and I don’t know why! Thanks to breastfeeding I have never had to take much out of the house when we go out; nappies, wipes, nappy bags and a spare outfit.
This nappy wallet from Esme and Livi is the perfect size for what we need; there’s 3 compartments and it is now proudly in our hospital bag ready! Not to mention the print, it is absolutely beautiful! There are lots of other designs to choose from in their Etsy shop where they also sell blankets, keepsakes and sensory cubes.
Their nappy wallets are £15 and would make a great gift for a new mummy!
Personalised dummy clip
Personalised dummy clips are one thing that I have always bought for each of my children; when they’ve finished using them they then go into their memory box (usually all raggedy and broken). This dummy clip from Handmade Dummy Clips is gorgeous, there are crocheted and wooden balls as well as little pink wooden hearts.
This dummy clip we received is £12 which I think is the average price for a dummy clip, but this one is a favourite of mine and we all love it!
Lets not forget about the packaging, the little bag with the tiny peg attached adds a special little touch.
Reversible baby booties
With Leo I went way overboard with shoes and booties, to just realise that we don’t need them. 1 pair of booties is enough, especially when they are reversible like these ones from Dapple and Dandelion. The floral pattern is stunning and will go with a lot of her outfits; you also have the plain side which is a nice touch as that will go with every single outfit!
These booties are selling for £15 on Dapple and Dandelion, great price for what is essentially 2 pairs of booties!
Dapple and Dandelion also sell bunting, personalised gifts, scrunchies, bows and more. They are all reasonable prices and I would be happy to shop there for more bits for my children.
Cuddledry have turned into my go-to for my children’s towels; we worked with them before, you can read it here. This time they have sent us the hands free baby towel with the pink edging. The towel is incredibly soft and perfect for babies skin; with an apron design so it makes it easier to get baby out of the bath.
The towel is made from bamboo and cotton; would make a great gift for a new parent and is 112cm long and 75cm wide so is plenty big enough for newborn up to your child grows out of it!
Cuddledry not only sell baby towels; they also sell animal hooded towels, bath toys, teethers, sponges, wash bags, gift sets and more. The hands free hooded towel is selling for £29.99 and washes incredibly well. We have Cuddledry towels from a couple of years ago that are still super soft now!
How pretty is this print? A little gift for mummy and a pick me up in either pregnancy or after the birth; she will definitely appreciate a little something for her in and amongst all the baby gifts!
Baby breathing monitor
I was so excited to receive this in the post to try out and just had to add it to this roundup; every parent goes through those first few weeks constantly checking their newborn is breathing. This Snuza monitor is there to eliminate that stress from new parents and give you peace of mind.
We will be giving you the full review once we have tested it out with our little princess!
Snuza also sell movement monitors and have lots of different versions of monitors available depending on what you want/need it for. This monitor is selling for £74.99 and for piece of mind it is well worth the money.
Mum and baby subscription box
This Little Fawn Box was a lovely item to get in the post; you don’t know what to expect but you know that there are going to be goodies in there for both mum and baby.
The subscription box is £12.99 on a pay monthly basis with £2.99 postage; or you can buy a 3 month or 6 month subscription plus postage. Each box contains over £30 worth of goodies!
In the August box there were lots of goodies and some have even been put straight into my hospital bag! We have:
- Nuby orthodontic dummies
- Hottea Mama herbal tea (put in my cupboard for after I get back after the birth)
- Mallow and Marsh coconut marshmallows (straight into my hospital bag)
- Human and Kind body wash
- Belo and me baby wardrobe dividers
- Metonium barrier ointment
- Oh K 3 step mask
- Affirmation card – Follow the rainbow
I will definitely be ordering these boxes for my friends as it takes the guess work out of the equation and you know that there will be gifts for both mum and baby so mummy isn’t left out.
Hospital grade breastpump
We have always had a breast pump with all our children; it started with a manual one but I quickly found how it was a lot of work with very little reward. When Mylo was born I had to go back to university when he was 11 weeks old after I had a term off and worked from home; I had to make sure that for the hours I wasn’t at home he had enough breast milk to last. I invested in an electric breast pump from a well known brand and it was fabulous; I was managing around 9oz in 10 minutes which meant that I could easily express in between lectures.
So I couldn’t contain my excitement when Ameda asked if I wanted to review their hospital grade double pump. I’ve donated my milk loads of times as I find it so easy to express, I’m aware that I’m very lucky by the way!
The pump that we’ve been sent is the Finesse and it is a double hospital grade electric pump; it has 32 fully customisable options and is adaptable for single or double pump usage. We will have a full review on the blog once we’ve used it a few times and I’m fully confident in the best ways to use it.
We have many items that we recommend for mums and babies, we just can’t possibly fit them into a single blog post. Items like the; 4moms mamaroo that we adore and the rainforest jumperoo; these are 2 items that we personally recommend and have had with all our children!
What items would you have the list?
We were sent these items for this feature. All images and opinions are that of my own.
