There’s nothing worse than a teething baby. A teething baby who is super stressed and can’t relieve themselves. We’ve gone through a lot of teething products over the years; over the counter, toys, homemade.. so I feel we know what we’re doing in regards to teething now. When I met Matchstick Monkey at a blogging conference I was excited to see a new teething toy on the market and just had to give it a review!
About Matchstick Monkey
Matchstick Monkey was designed by a fellow mother when her daughter was born in 2015. She couldn’t find anything on the market that stopped her fingers getting bitten in the process of applying a teething solution (we’ve all been there). Matchstick Monkey was then born!
The Matchstick Monkey itself
The Matchstick Monkey comes in a range of colours, this is one of my favourite things about it. Baby items should be bright and bold I feel which is why we opted for the orange colour.
The Matchstick Monkey is both a teething toy and teething gel applicator and is crafted from soft, non-toxic silicone.
The handles are easy to grasp arms, and the monkey has little bumps on the back of it’s head that act as a massager for the gums (cool right?)
The best bit? It’s dishwasher and freezer friendly which makes it easy to clean and fab to throw in the freezer as a cooling aid too for those sensitive gums.
What Nico thought
Nic loves his Matchstick Monkey. The arms really are fab for holding and aid hand to mouth coordination as well as grasping skills.
I must admit that it’s my favourite teether out there right now. It’s better than another teether that springs to mind because this one has no holes in it, therefore you know that there’s no gunk lurking on the inside! I’ve ran our Matchstick Monkey through the dishwasher quite a few times now and it’s not been a problem at all; it makes it so easy to clean! We’ve also tried ours in the freezer too which has been fantastic! Obviously Nico wasn’t keen on it being straight from the freezer cold so we left it out for a bit to warm a little and he was over the moon with it!
As you can see, his Matchstick Monkey goes everywhere with him, even for breakfast!
The Matchstick Monkey is very reasonable priced too at only £9.99. In my eyes it’s a steal to alleviate your babies teething pains. I would happily pay £9.99 for this; I’ve paid more and I’ve paid less before, but this item is well worth it’s price tag in my eyes.
You can check out the other colours of the Matchstick Monkey here. Matchstick Monkey can be bought at Boots, Amazon, John Lewis etc. You can follow their social media to keep up to date on their Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
