I must admit, my boys don’t usually like towels unless they are covered in their favourite superhero or movie character. They like to get dry as quickly as possible then run around naked! So when we were sent a pair of Cuddledry poncho towels to review I was a bit dubious about how they would react to actually wearing a towel.
The towels that we were sent were not a standard towel. For one, they were bamboo which made them incredibly soft! They were towels that I would be more than happy to leave the boys wrapped in all day long.
About the Cuddledry poncho towel
Like I said, these towels are not the standard towels that you use out of the bath. Although there’s nothing stopping us using them indoors too! But these towels have a patented technology meaning that they actually offer UV protection at Sun Protection Factor 50+. They currently only have the towels in an aqua/turquoise colour with a dolphin embroidered on the front. But I love the colour and it’s perfect for the hot weather. The fact that these Cuddledry poncho towels have factor 50+ protection gives them a huge selling point for packing these away when going abroad.
It is so important to keep your children safe in the sun and these protective ponchos have a roomy hood and even have underarm poppers to keep the towel in place. The towels patented technology means that the towel acts like a mirror, warding off the harmful UV rays.
I mentioned above that these towels are made with Cuddledry’s signature blend of bamboo and cotton; this makes them very absorbent and keeps them incredibly soft.
These Cuddledry SPF50+ Poncho Towels retail at £27.99 each but they are worth their price tag considering how soft they are and the fact that they have added UV protection.
The Cuddledry towels come packaged in lovely boxes with little rope handles which means they are also perfect for gifts too. I would be happy to have received these towels as baby gifts for sure. I love that they come so nicely packaged because it just shows the quality runs all the way through from the towel to the packaging.
What the boys thought
The boys weren’t sure about the towels at first, although Leo did say “mummy, they are so soft!”
Leo thought it was a bit strange to have a towel that had a hood and had poppers under the arms. Nevertheless he wore it and wasn’t bothered after a while. Mylo on the other hand didn’t see it as a towel and saw it as a game. He kept playing peekaboo with it which he thought was hilarious!
Here’s a few more photos for good measure:
What I thought
I personally found the Cuddledry poncho towel really easy to use, there’s nothing to it really. Slide their heads into the hood and then clip the popper under each arm. It’s that simple! I’ll say it again incase you didn’t hear me the first time, but I love the softness from these towels. We have washed them and they are still incredibly soft. Don’t you hate it though when you buy a lovely towel and then wash it and it comes out like a piece of cardboard. Well these ones don’t and that is the thing that I am most happy about with these towels.
I first heard of Cuddledry a while ago, when they appeared on Dragons Den.
Despite getting offers from the Dragon’s, Cuddledry declined, and decided to go for it on their own, which I really respect! The brand has grown so much since their appearance on Dragons Den. They’ve more than proven that they didn’t need the backing in the first place from the dragon’s.
Cuddledry is now multi award winning (over 40 awards I might add!) and sells a wide range of towelling based products for babies, toddlers and children.
We were sent these Cuddledry Poncho Towels free of charge in exchange for this review, however all thoughts and opinions are my own
