We have teamed up with Wicked Uncle for their science month and we are super excited about showing you the items that we chose!
Before teaming up with Wicked Uncle I didn’t realise just how much they sell on their website! When I went online to chose our order I was blown over with choice. They have categories ranging from brainiac to sensory and everything in between. It took me a few days to actually choose what I wanted to get for the boys. I would flit between one product and another then change my mind, it was like a merry go round! I eventually chose the Grow your own bug eating plants and the Wow & wonder science set.
I went through the ordering process like I was an average customer; this way I could review their service properly for you all. The payment system was smooth and if you’re like me and don’t like putting your card details into websites for payment then they have the option to pay by PayPal. For me personally, if a website doesn’t have PayPal checkout then it’s most likely that I won’t order so this is a big plus for me!
I ordered my items on 5/4/17 and they were delivered only a couple of days later. I was pretty happy with the delivery, everything came well packaged and it was a shorter timeframe than I expected. We went through the whole ordering process like I was a normal customer so I could review Wicked Uncle properly.
*Grow your own bug eating plants*
We have recently redone our back garden and put new grass seeds down. Leo ha been helping me hose it every day and we have been talking about what plants need to grow; therefore I thought that this would be a great add on to help him process the whole idea of photosynthesis. Don’t get me wrong, Leo is only 3 so I’m adapting all of this to his level of learning.
The set includes: instructions leaflet, compost pots, lollipop (marker) sticks, expanding soil, planter seeds and Venus flytrap seeds.
The instructions are super easy to understand and follow and there’s also some cool facts in there about bug eating plants that I never even knew!
- Planters when fully grown can fit a whole adult fist in their ‘mouth’
- Venus fly traps can live for up to 20 years!
- Planters and Venus fly traps can take up to 3 months to germinate and grow!
Leo helped me to plant the seeds and he will also help me look after them. It doesn’t take long to get everything up and running from opening the box to putting your plants on your kitchen windowsill to grow which is great if you have children with a short attention span!
I will keep you guys updated on our plants progress and I am hoping over summer they will start to sprout so we can move them into bigger pots!

*Wow & Wonder set*
We chose this set because I wanted Leo to do a few simple science experiments. I’m lucky in that Leo picks up things quite quickly so I thought the set would give him an opportunity to try some science based learning that is fun!
The set includes: Test tubes with lids and a stand, bubble wand and tray, zig zag dipper, glasses with 3 colours of interchangeable lenses, horseshoe magnet and 10 activity idea cards.
Up to now we have tried the bubble making experiment and the interchangeable colour lenses experiment. Both activities went really well and were lots of fun for myself and Leo to do together! The activity cards are a fantastic addition to this set because it means that even the most unsciency people can jump right in and get started! The instructions are so easy to follow and the experiments are great for 3 years plus.
