Tuff spot trays are great for so many activities and this time we thought that we would do some ice painting!
This activity literally cost me £1, and that was for a bag of ice from the supermarket. I only bought it because I don’t have enough space in my freezer to make all that ice! Such a simple activity and Leo and Mylo loved it! Because you know how we roll, we actually did this activity in the rain too; we don’t let a bit of water from the sky phase us!
What we used
You should know us by now and know that we throw anything and anything into our tuff spot activities! For this one we used:
- Big bag of ice
- Paint brushes
And that’s it!
Here’s some photo’s that I got of the boys.
Things to learn from this painting without paint brushes activity:
- Sensory development – the cold of the ice
- Language and communication – talking through how the ice feels and if the paint slides off the ice. What happens to the paint once the ice has melted?
- Understanding the world – learning about everything that they are using and asking questions, the process of melting and freezing
- Creative development – this activity really lets them show off their creative side by using materials in new ways that they wouldn’t have thought of using to paint
We also vlogged this activity and you can find us on Youtube here.

We hope that you enjoyed it, and we will be back very soon with some more activities!
