It always seems so hard to find those last few gifts doesn’t it? Well, it doesn’t have to be for Christmas 2017. Whether you are looking for something for your children or for other children, these gifts will make the perfect addition. People easily get sucked into the ‘must-have’ toy every year. Last year it was those dreadful Hatchimals, and parent’s everywhere were pulling their hair out trying to get hold of one. Christmas 2017 has seen the infamous Fingerlings! However, on our gift guides we don’t do the most expensive must have toys. We do toys and gifts that won’t be thrown to one side come boxing day.
We love reading, so whenever we get a chance to read a book we will, even if that is in the bath! We’ve had many bath books before but never one that changes colour when it’s wet so that went down well with with the boys.
The book is fab if you’re looking for a nice stocking filler or maybe a gift for a child that has got the entire toy store in their bedroom!
You can find the book here.
Write my name – Children’s handwriting practice
Leo loves writing his name and the more practice that he can get the better. This write my name book is absolutely fantastic and I can’t wait to give it to him for christmas! There are so many activities thrown in: shapes, letters, capital and lowercase practice etc. There are also stickers and a certificate thrown in for good measure.
The best thing about this book? You can wipe it all off and start again!

My boys can’t get enough of puzzles, they will do them over and over again and not get bored. These two puzzles are fab quality and won’t be broken easily. I love how they are chunky wood because we try to follow the Montessori approach in our house so are gradually reducing the amount of plastic toys we have. Obviously Leo loves his Marvel figures so they won’t be going anywhere; and Mylo loves his cars so they will be staying!
These toys are from Hape which are a fab toy brand. You can find these puzzles and much more over on their website.
This is a book that is personalised story with your child’s name at the centre of it. We chose the ‘At Night’ book as Mylo loves to learn about animals and we currently have plenty of books with jungle and domestic animals so we thought night time would be perfect.
This book is aimed at children aged 1+ because any higher than that age range had too many words per page for Mylo’s attention span. So if you are on the lookout for a special book as a gift, Little Elephant Books deserves a visit.
You can buy the book from Little Elephant Books.
This game is aimed at children a little older, aged 6+. However, it is a fab family game which could easily be played at a slower speed for younger children. Linkit includes 72 cards and comes in a fab travel tin, so it’s a perfect game to pack away for a holiday or long car ride.
I found this game to be great for improving language and visual perception skills so it’s a fab all rounder for both fun and learning.
You can buy the Linkit game *here*.
The soothing turtle is one for children of all ages. The turtle boasts; 6 coloured noises that correspond with a projection of the same colour; cry activation to come on automatically; and different options for lights and sounds.
A lot of the sounds sounded fairly similar to us and the light projection isn’t very strong but if you have a little one who loves white noise and you want some soft light in the room then it would be perfect.
You can find the soothing turtle here.
Where are you hiding Charlie Dog?
Another book here for you guys. This is a lovely book about a dog called Charlie who is hiding! We just love the illustrations in this book, they are simple and colourful and don’t distract from the story. This book is in sequel to the loved Charlie Dog books which are all beautifully written by Sue Pavey.
You can order this book on Prime on Amazon *here*.
You can find Sue Pavey on Twitter.
Delighted with our selection from @books_pieces! I’m super excited to be part of the Parent Panel! You see the book furthest on the left? Apparently that it indestructible! We will be doing a video to see just how indestructible it is! It says that it’s 100% washable, chew proof and rip proof! That is just what I need for Mylo for sure! I wish I had known about them sooner. Anyone else who could benefit from those kind of books? Well I’ve got a 10% discount code for you guys over on @books_pieces website 🙂 enter code RAW10 at the checkout ?
